Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and a relative of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has led a pro-Tinubu rally in Madobi Local Government Area, Kano State.
The rally brought together hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, including women and youth groups, who chanted slogans in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Addressing supporters in Madobi, the hometown of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Musa Illiyasu said the new political alliance was formed to support Tinubu’s return to office.
He described the realignment as unprecedented in the area, saying it involved groups that had opposed one another for 28 years.
He said former Kano State House of Assembly member Habibu Hassan Elyakub, whom he described as a grassroots politician, had posed a challenge to them for several years.
Musa Illiyasu added that the groups had previously contested against one another, sometimes winning and sometimes losing, but had now joined forces to support Tinubu.
He urged supporters to protect the integrity of the 2027 election, saying the turnout of women and young people reflected their confidence in the alliance’s prospects.
Elyakub said the alliance gave Tinubu reason to feel confident about the election.
He noted that Musa Illiyasu had continued to win elections in the local government, despite Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s presence in Madobi.
“We are not afraid, and we are determined to work for President Tinubu’s victory in 2027,” Elyakub said.
A women’s leader, Hajiya Assabe Diko, said women and young people would conduct door-to-door campaigning to bring more supporters on board. She said the group would visit households to raise political awareness and promote Tinubu’s re-election.
Musa Illiyasu also listed projects he said had been carried out or were underway in Kano under Tinubu’s administration, including the AKKK project, railways, road networks and security initiatives.
He said the projects were tangible and not “magic.”
